About US Civics Practice

We build free study tools that help immigrants prepare for the U.S. citizenship test and understand the naturalization process — in plain English, at their own pace.

Our Mission

The U.S. citizenship process involves confusing forms, unfamiliar legal terms, and long wait times. Most of the official information is dense, scattered across different USCIS pages, and written in a style that can be difficult for non-native English speakers to follow.

US Civics Practice exists to fill that gap. We take publicly available USCIS guidance and translate it into clear, structured educational resources — practice quizzes, step-by-step process guides, interactive calculators, and a realistic interview simulator.

Our goal is straightforward: help applicants study with confidence, understand what to expect at each stage, and walk into their citizenship interview feeling prepared — not overwhelmed.

Updated for 2026

Content reflects the current 128-question civics test format and latest USCIS processing guidance.

Editorial Standards

We take accuracy seriously. Every article, tool, and educational resource on this site follows a consistent editorial process:

  • Content is based on publicly available USCIS materials, the USCIS Policy Manual, and the Immigration and Nationality Act.
  • Articles are reviewed and updated regularly as USCIS policies or processing guidance change.
  • We write in plain English so that non-native speakers can follow along without a legal dictionary.
  • Where uncertainty exists — such as processing timelines or case-specific outcomes — we use language that reflects that uncertainty rather than making absolute claims.
  • Each article includes a "last reviewed" date, an editorial disclaimer, and a note that the content is educational only.
  • We do not fabricate credentials, invent expert reviewers, or claim government endorsement.

Our commitment is to be helpful first. If we cannot verify a claim, we do not publish it.

Updated for 2026

The USCIS civics test now uses a pool of 128 questions, with applicants asked up to 20 and required to answer 12 correctly (60%) to pass. Our practice tools, quizzes, and content reflect this current format.

Processing times, filing fees, and USCIS procedural guidance also shift over time. We monitor these changes and update the relevant pages as new information becomes publicly available.
