About the 2026 USCIS Civics Test
The U.S. citizenship civics test is part of the naturalization interview every applicant takes after filing Form N-400. The 2025–2026 version of the test draws from a pool of 128 official questions covering U.S. history, government, geography, and rights and responsibilities. During the interview, a USCIS officer will ask up to 20 of those questions out loud, and you need at least 12 correct answers to pass.
This Full Quiz pulls a randomized set of questions directly from that 128-question list. It is designed to feel like real interview practice — you read the question, type your answer, and immediately see whether your response matches one of the accepted answers. There are no points lost for spelling or capitalization, and the quiz accepts common variations of each correct answer.
Who Should Use the Full Quiz?
- Applicants with an interview scheduled in the next 2–6 weeks who need broad coverage of the question list.
- Spanish-speaking learners who want bilingual question display to confirm meaning before answering in English.
- Self-study learners who prefer typed answers over multiple choice for stronger retention.
- People studying with family who want a shareable, no-login practice tool.
How USCIS Scoring Works
On the real test, the officer asks one civics question at a time. You answer out loud. The officer marks each answer right or wrong on the spot. As soon as you get 12 correct, the civics portion ends and you pass — no need to answer all 20. If you miss 9, the civics portion ends with a fail. Most applicants reach 12 correct answers within the first 15 questions when they have studied consistently.
5 Tips Before You Start the Quiz
- Read each question out loud before answering. The real interview is oral, so train your ears as well as your eyes.
- Don't worry about typos. The quiz forgives minor spelling and capitalization differences and accepts most common phrasings.
- Review missed questions. When you get something wrong, read the accepted answers shown afterward — that's where the real learning happens.
- Aim for 7 of 10 first. Once you can hit 70% on quick rounds consistently, you're ready to attempt the Interview Simulator.
- Practice every day, even briefly. Ten minutes a day for three weeks beats one long cram session the night before.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many questions are on the 2026 USCIS civics test?
The official USCIS civics question list for the 2025–2026 test contains 128 questions. During your real interview, the officer will ask up to 20 of these questions and you must answer at least 12 correctly to pass.
Is this Full Quiz the same as the real USCIS test?
No. This is an independent study tool. The real USCIS interview is conducted orally by a USCIS officer in person. This quiz uses the same official question list but is designed for self-paced practice and review, not for evaluation.
Do I need to memorize every accepted answer?
No. During the real interview you only need to give one correct answer per question. But studying multiple accepted answers helps you recognize what the officer is looking for and gives you a backup if one slips your mind.
How long should I practice before my interview?
Most learners need four to six weeks of consistent daily practice to feel confident. Start with the 10-question Quick Practice mode daily, then move to this Full Quiz once you can answer 7 of 10 correctly without help.
